I bought the similar gas strut from McM-Carr for my L-IVP.  Turns out it is slightly shorter and has threaded ends.  I thought that I could use the ends off my old gas strut but they could not easily be removed and McM-C does not provide the proper ends.
 
SOooo, you can have the $20 strut free by paying the postage..  Just let me know.
