Following up on my earlier post. I have continued to play with the strut to find out what is going on. I noticed something I had not seen before. There is no oil leaking by the bottom shaft seal. HOWEVER, when I raise and lower the strut there is some oil seepage from under the flange that bolts to the nose tire fork. Its very subtle but real and repeatable. It seems that the oil is coming from inside the center shaft. I dont have drawings to determine what that might be from. I am assuming a seal has failed internally since I would guess the probablity of a cracked shaft is low.
I assume pulling the strut and sending to Lancair is the correct course of action but would like feedback. I have googled the strut and I did not find overhaul kits available.
