Hi, we have a question for everyone out there hoping that someone has a
suggestion.  We are in the final assembly and rigging stage of a fast
build IV-P in Yarrawonga Victoria Australia.  We have a problem with the
right flap outboard end.  That end is sitting 3/16 of an inch higher than
the top wing skin with the flap in the fully retracted position.  The
trailing edge appears okay but we are not sure.  Lancair has said that
this is a cosmetic problem but aerodynamically it is okay.  But we do not
want to leave it like this.
Lancair sent us another outboard flaptrack, which we redrilled to lower
the leading edge of the flap whilst maintaining the trailing edge profile.
However, because of the rotation that this caused the geometery of the
flap actuating mechanism was upset.  It appears to us that the setting up
in the out of alignment during the fastbuild.  We trust that the trailing
edge of the flap was aligned because we have aligned the rest of the wing
to it (ailerons, winglets and fairings).  The bell cranks are aligned
correctly because the system works properly until we move the leading edge
to the flush position with the adjusted flaptrack.  Does anybody have
any thoughts?

At this stage the options we have come up with:

1) remove wing and rejig to install 2 new flaptracks.
or
2) modify the outboard flaptrack roller bracket to lower the leading edge,
however we are concerned that this may put a twist through the flap to
the inboard backet.
We would be grateful for any input, as we are due to test fly soon.
Regards Robert Wallace Yarrawonga Lancair Syndicate
