Charley,

I share your sentiment.  I think that the homebuilt fraternity and the rules=
 that allow it are special, and should be preserved.  I too want to publicly=
 thank Marv for his invaluable service to all of us!  Where can we donate?

Although I'm thrilled that LOBO has been founded, and I applaud most of the g=
reat work our LOBO leadership has accomplished (including creation of standa=
rdized training syllabi, negotiation with the insurance industry, collection=
 and analysis of safety data, and encouragement of Lancair owners to get app=
ropriate training), I am very uncomfortable with the concept of an SFAR for e=
xperimental aircraft.  As you said, the primary benefit of the amateur built=
 arena is the freedom that results because of minimal regulation.  Inviting t=
he FAA to insert more regulation may very well be a cure that kills the pati=
ent.  I am an otherwise happy LOBO member, but this is one initiative that I=
 strongly oppose.
