During that period of time, several = members kept pushing us to make changes to the regulations to require = the incorporation of safety equipment into the aircraft. To accomplish = such changes, even if the required cost/benefit analysis would support = such changes, would take in excess of 10 years. In a public meeting, = they again were pushing me for changes, and I had had my fill. My = reaction was, IF they really wanted these changes, write them into their = contracts. The companies are household names you would all recognize and = within a couple of years, the safety equipment was incorporated into all = their contracts. so it is possible to make changes without bringing in = the Authorities. For those of us who want insurance, there would be = minimal problem with putting the initial and recurrent training = requirements into our insurance packages. This would improve our = training and help reduce the accident rate. Be advised, as the = regulations are currently written and interpeeted, the initial training = requirement is almost impossible to get on a newly licensed experimental = aircraft.
