Steve: I love that idea of the projector lenses and I've been searching for 24v ballasts that would work. I've got invisible Whelen incandescent (four) lamps that barely light up the centre line. The four lamps are in the leading edge also, just a wider slot (see pic).
Incidentially, I did speak with Xevision after they posted some notes on the Cirrus site for older parts. They would provide me with older (new) Philips 24v ballasts and new lights at a 50% discount. That still is a big invoice and I'd rather do the Audi/BMW/Caddy projector lens instead--if I can find 24v ballasts. If anyone has data on 24v Ballasts I'd be interested. If anyone wants details on the Xevision lights then maybe there's some value in a bigger order than my four lights. They were talking in the range of $250 for ballast and light.
