After the blanket is cut to proper shape, the exposed edge is recessed and filled with high temp silicone.

Similar to closing a pre-preg edge with micro.

The firewall blanket penetration points are also recessed and covered with silicone as seen in these pics.

There are spacers (blanket thickness) bonded to the firewall at each penetration point.
