The hydraulic pump on 235N was replaced recently= with a new pump from Lancair. The previous pump was from the late 198= 0's/early 90's and sat on the shelf unus= ed for almost 20 years. After a few hours of flight time the pump bega= n short cycling several times in a row after the gear was retracted. Using = the trouble shooting method previously described in the LML, it w= as determined that the hydraulic pressure loss was coming from the pump its= elf. A decision was made to purchase a new pump and worry about rebuilding = the old pump later. Despite the long wait time for the pump to arrive, the = performance of the the new pump is nothing short of amazing. Both mains ret= ract simultaneously followed immediately by the nose gear. The gear retract= s in less than half the time as the old pump and is much quieter. In fact, = you can't hear the gear motor at all while flying. Gear down is really fast also. This is all probably normal fare for you Legacy flyer= s, but it is a big improvement over the slow and loud gear motor of th= e old days!
