I'm trying to select the proper AWG size for a 60A current, assuming a single wire. If I use the dc_awg wiring worksheet from the LML attachments, submitted by Scott Dahlgren, I get 8 AWG (for continuous 60A). If I look in the Aero-Electric Connection wire table, which allows a 35 deg. C temp. rise for a single wire, 8 AWG wire is good only for 40A. That seems to me to be a significant discrepancy. I'd like to use the 8 AWG wire to save weight, but how hot is it going to get at 60A? Anyone have a comment? Thanks.
