True =E2=80=93 Adam and all of us sh= ould get initial and recurrent training from an instructor (not necessarily= a test pilot) to insure we are competent and current in our respective a/c= .=C2=A0 That instructor needs to be one who is completely familiar with the= a/c involved.=C2=A0 LOBO is an excellent source of such folks.=C2=A0 Howev= er, that being said, the more copilot time you can amass, especially if you= =E2=80=99re doing the flying , prior to or concurrent with that initial fli= ght, the more you will likely get out of that initial =E2=80=9Cofficial=E2= =80=9D training.=C2=A0

I suspect you=E2=80=99re saying that Adam and others should not substitute flying ar= ound with a friend in his Legacy for serious syllabus training and for chec= kout or for insurance requirements.=C2=A0 I would agree with that.

Additionally,= unless the owner has LOTS of hours in type, and familiarity with dealing w= ith any and all emergencies, he would be very smart to hire a test pilot fo= r the first flight =E2=80=93 maybe the first few hours of flight. =C2=A0

Do yourself a favor and= hire a real test pilot.  If you must you can then have the test pilot= check you out in your plane so you can fly off the time.

I=E2=80=99m very close to flying my= Legacy #151 =E2=80=93 today was my first high-speed taxi test. Here=E2=80=99s a video of my firs= t engine run: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3D7UWNjakyY1Y=

I received 6.5 hours of dual last October at the L= OBO fly-in in Branson. It=E2=80=99s been four months so I=E2=80=99d like to= brush up before my first flight. Is there anyone in the area who wouldn=E2= =80=99t mind taking me up for an hour or so? I=E2=80=99d like to do some ta= keoffs, slow flight, pattern work, and approaches to landing. I=E2=80=99m c= omfortable flying from either seat. I live on Long Island , New York . You = can contact me on or off list. <= /p>
