Many LNC2 Lancairians have installed this latching mechanism in their forward hinged canopy aircraft.  Some of us as far back as the early nineties (last century).  It takes a lot of work and care to details but the system works beautifully.  The advantages are an outside access handle and secure over-center canopy hold down.
