The comment made the other day about firewall washers is a good one. If you
drop one, or it slides out of position behind the firewall steel, you've got
a big problem. I glued the steel AN-970 area washers to the firewall plywood
with red RTV from the auto parts store to keep this from happening.
I'm beginning to like the idea of replacing the washers under the engine
mount pads with phenolic "washers" epoxied to the firewall. They would be
even lighter than aluminum, I suppose, and unlikely to slip out of place if I
yank the engine in five or ten years when the RTV is old and crumbly.
By the way, the LNC2 nose strut gas spring upper attachment brackets are hard
to reach to put a nut on. It was easy to install nutplates on the brackets.
I just run the bolts thru the firewall and torque them down -- no need to
reach up in the nose wheel well with a wrench.

[I am using phenolic washers behind anything that bolts to or through the
firewall, attached to the glass/plywood with expired Hysol. It's good
enough for that purpose and the washers will keep my pretty engine-turned
stainless steel sheet from getting all dimpled.
