The Saturday Fly-in to Willows airport was a great success. There
were 9 Lancairs from 3 states (California, Nevada, Oregon) that arrived in the
morning. It was great to see all the participants, as I, as well as
others, had not gotten together for a while. We even had 3 builders from
Chico at the gathering.
The weather was spectacular. My flight to Willows of about an hour
included a fly over of a balloon rally with about 25 balloons over the Yreka
airport. Steve Green, Lancair painter extraordinaire, in the right seat,
tried his best to get a few pics of the rally, a difficult task in a
LNC2.
We arrived at Willows as number 3 in line after Chris Zavatson (LNC2)
and Gary Martin (LNC2). Bob Belshe (LNC2) and, Steve & Claudette
Colwell (Legacy) were already parked.
Bucky Whittier (LNC2) arrived. Can't miss his paint scheme.
Beautiful. After some conversion along the flight line, we headed
over to Nancy's Airport Café for breakfast. Fred Baron and Gary
Melton arrived in their LNC2's and joined us in the café. Wow, as usual,
the portions are big. Great food as always there. Lots of talk which
included a good discussion of Bob's new airplane (wish I could afford to have 2
planes).
After breakfast, and more conversation on the flight-line, Gary Melton was
the first to depart, followed by me and Steve Green at the same time Tom Low
(LNC2) was arriving. Can't miss that yellow LNC2 of Tom's in the
pattern.
Thanks to all that were at Willows. Both Steve Green and I had a
great time. It's been awhile. Let's do it again.
