I guess you haven't flown a military style layout so you are comfortable with engine controls in the center. You are also right that it would be tough on a passenger to fly. The photos are helful. Photo 2 looks like a long engine mount (about 3 inches more room). Usually there isn't room for an oil filter where this one is on a short mount. Also there is a lot of room behind the mag and the prop governor (not visible) needs relief to stick aft of the firewall with the short. On the panel, you will have some work to reposition the fuel shutoff, but doable. Also, photo 3 shows another reason to make the switch. The prop control is already there. So the layout you have is doubly odd. You definitely should use something like the old cable to determine required length. If you route what you have, it would "nearly" reach and you could easily measure the shortfall before you buy the new one. Good luck, Tom
