Hi Pat, I've used cheap white tileboard for my cutting table for years and am very happy with the results. Its a smooth glossy surface thats just the right hardness for cutting with a "pizza cutter" type blade. It costs about 10-12 bucks for a 4'x8' sheet and is readily available anywhere. No matter what you use, it'll get cut up eventually. I put about 3 layers of tileboard on my table and when the top layer gets too cut up, I simply remove it, throw it away and there's a new layer ready for service already on the table. I find that a sheet of tileboard will last 6 months or more of fairly heavy use. Good luck.
