So, I'm wondering how sensitive are these flaps to small rigging adjustments of
perhaps a 1/2 turn on a rod end bearing?

Test flying reveled a left wing heavy condition
which required about 3/8" flap differential.
Subsequently I discovered that  the problem could
be relieved simply by keeping a few more gallons
in the right wing, however frequent selector
valve changes were still required to keep the
plane in roll trim during cross country flights. I built an electric roll trim system using a
small gear motor, cable and two springs (no trim
tab)mounted under the seat. A tiny voltage
regulator adjusts the speed.
I am completely satisfied with this system, all
surfaces are normally in trim, I switch tanks
when the ailerons become noticeably out of trim,
about every 40-60 min.

The most important feature of the trim system is
that the cable is not pinned to the gear motor,
but simply wraps about the pulley. Should the
motor run-away it cannot overpower the pilot as
the cable slips above 3lbf. stick pressure.
