Wow Jeff, you did a full stop, quiet the engine, feathered the prop and
let it glide.....well I admire your guts. But the glide ratio you showing
is really awesome, this is much better than even the Evolution has. And
this with a piston?

So I assume you have a final speed of 120kts?
Or do I see this wrong? (because I was also told that if you go to slow
the descent rate of the IV-p increases dramatically !

I have practiced engine out glide with my full feather three blade
Hartzell prop (Model number HC-H3YF-2UF) in the full feather position
and fully stopped.  My Lancair glides at 120 KIAS with 550 fpm
descent at moderately loaded weight.  This translates to 21.8 to 1
glide ratio.  It glides unbelieveably well, with plenty of time to
calm oneself as you prepare for an engine out approach, programmed
into the Chelton as mentioned previously.

I can now simulate this engine out glide with a flat pitch 2500RPM
prop setting and 10.5" MAP, which is just a wee bit less than the
power setting on a normal final approach.

Hello guys

For what I have gathered so far the lancair 4p has a glide ratio
similar like a piano LOL In other words if the engine quits then
open the door, throw out your keys because there is where you land
LOL

Well, this might not be true, or is it?

So how about the full feathering prop ? Does anyone have experience
with the before and after installation?  How much they cost and data?

Thanks -- Ronald
