that may be as good as it gets.   not much you can do about the engine except get a sightline around it somehow.

putting it in a glass wingtip seems to work.

using a commercial whisker on the top of the vstab also works.    It's aesthetically very unpleasing but I think it's down in the 1mph penalty area.

It is mounted above the rear bulkhead as seen in the picture.
Reception works fine over 100NM except exactly forward and rearwards (357°- to 3° and about 177° to 183°)I guess it is shielded by the engine and carbon horizontal.
First I installed the Bob Archer antenna long wards from front to rear, then I lowered the aluminum strips downwards. Now it works a little better.
To the sides I have perfect reception.
I really don't want to install an antenna on the outside of the plane, but it would be my last chance to get a good reception.

P.S.
There is an additional bulkhead in the back which is not in the plans to stiffen the tail.
