This airplane has a distinguished history. It was built by Mark Kirchner who lived on Mercer Island in Seattle, Washington. It was certified and test flown

in September of 1998. Mark was responsible for the data and flight testing for the stall strips that tame the stall on the Lancair IV.
(see the attached letter)

If you are fearful of your Lancair IV in a stall--you need not be if, you have installed the strips Mark recommended. (He was the recently retired chief engineer of Boeing).

The IV-P I the Norwood hangar collapse is mine.

I think the insurance company will total it. Enough roof came down on it to break the nose gear, bend the main gear damage flaps and the right wing. Girders fell on the left wing, right wing and forward fuselage. I cannot get access to the aircraft. The debris has not been lifted off it to see what the front end looks like. I expect damage to the canopy, firewall, front fuselage, door and more. It will need an engine, prop, spinner, cowl, instrument overhauls and likely lots more.
