On my Legacy RG, the Chelton Sport EFIS GPS antenna is located in the right wingtip (surrounded by blue metallic wingtip paint BTW), and so far, I have had minimal issues regarding reception.  On the contrary, I first mounted my Garmin 430 GPS antenna under the glare shield.  At that location, I had a lot of lost signal issues, reception likely being blocked by the carbon fiber canopy frame.  With great reluctance, I raised the antenna by moving it to the top of the glare shield (not as aesthetically pleasing), but now have no reception problems unless the canopy is raised (yes, on the ground :<} which blocks reception depending on orientation to the satellites.
