You won't need more than the smallest capacity 16mb iPad, but be sure to get the 3G model in order to have the GPS capability.

Pull the trigger and buy it.  The iPad with Foreflight is a very strong preflight and in cockpit package!

I'm also thinking ahead to active cooling for the installation.
