Danny,
1. At my gross weight of 1,900 lbs, the CG moves back significantly (see attachment). My plane, when loaded to gross, has 790 lbs on each main and 320 lbs on the nose. Last year, after a flat, I talked to the Desser tire company and queried the LML. I now use 70 PSI in the mains and have not had another problem, except for the rough ride.
2. Why would you refit a tried and true canopy with one that has known problems? I forgot to latch all 4 of my latches on takeoff a few years ago. I noticed that it was a little noisy on climb out so I latched all of the latches, no problem. On some forward hinged canopies, this could have been a fatal mistake. Also many Lancairs with the forward hinged canopies have burned holes in their glare shields from the sun hitting them the wrong way. The forward hinged canopy does look neat, but is that the only advantage?
3. The mount isn't as much a problem as finding, fitting and painting a new cowling.
Every time that I want to do a major modifications to my plane, I have to say to myself; "You can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear.". It would be much easier for you to get a Legacy than to do all of the work that you are talking about to a LNC2.
I love my LNC2 just the way it is. Every month I fly 700 nm, from Detroit to St SImons Island, Ga, in 4 hours using 28 gallons of fuel.

Since my latest effort to buy a finished 360 fell apart at the last minute I'm now searching again. And it was oohhh sooo close to being mine. Oh well. I see several possibilities on the market but nothing that fits all of my wants and needs so here are a some questions.
1. My understanding of the standard gear is that the weak link is two-fold; weak structure and tires with a max load of only 500 lbs. In my engineering mind, if one loads three tires to max loading of 500 lbs each, that's a max weight of only 1,500 lbs. I know many are flying at higher weights. Are your tires wearing out faster? Have you blown a tire? Whats' the cost of an Outback retrofit, are the parts available and how long would it take?
2. What's the cost & time required to retrofit a Lagacy-type forward hinge and latch conopy on a 320/360?
3. What's the cost and time required to retrofit a short engine mount with a long one?
I think these are the main items I'm finding with those on the market that I'd have to change. I'd appreciate any help here so I can consider the pursuit of other 320/360 models without these elements.
