I have several orphan parts. It kinda reminds me of my old British sports car (having parts left over when finished). These are leftovers, and if y'all have any concerns about these, I'm all ears...
1) Springs to hold the main landing gear links overcentered. These were replaced with the rat trap springs.
2) A spring and bracket included in the forward hinge latch kit which appears to hold the mechanism overcenter. There's so much latching force to overcome when opening (easily adjusted with the pushrods which connect the torque tube to the latch hooks) that I didn't think it was necessary.
3) Return springs for the rudder pedals. I have the adjustable rudder pedals from Lancair. They don't seem to need return springs but I admit that I have not installed the rudder cables yet. I may realize that I need the return springs after all. The jury is still out on this.
4) Wing bolts (just kidding!)
5) All of the "aquarium tubing" (Brent Regan's description) that came with the kit for brake lines. All the plastic fittings, too. I used Aeroquip 666.
6) About half of the safety wire tabs made from anodized 1/8 aluminum that came with the bracket kit. I used some, but attached safety wire in different ways in different places. I think everything that needs safety wire has it -- I did not deviate from Lancair's instructions here. I still need to install safety wire for the wing sump drains -- anyone know how to do this?
There are some more spare parts that should not raise any eyebrows -- Latches and rods for the parallelogram canopy since I bought and installed the forward hinged canopy kit. Lights for the landing gear microswitches, since I replaced these with a different indicator system. The original Matco brake pads and disks, since I replaced the pads with Matco's new formulation and replaced the brake disks with new ones that would not fracture. Lights for the landing gear microswitches, as I replaced these with a different indicator system that happens to use LEDs. All of the mechanical trim parts, as I installed the Menzimer system (Ray Allen to you new guys).
There is a small plastic bag in my hangar that contains all of these, labeled "unused parts". This list is purely from memory. If Don wants to see my bag of unused parts, he's welcome to do so.
