I have read several postings on insulating inside the engine cowling for protection from the hot turbos. Based on marine and commercial experience, we decided to install a "turbo blanket" for heat protection. Photos of installation are attached for your perusal.
Also included in the photos is a field-fabricated turbo blanket that we installed last year (picture # 7). Removal at condition inspection revealed normal wear and deterioration. The blankets installed this year are manufactured by Heatshield Products and are much neater and more accessible for inspection.
If you will look closely, you will notice that the blankets appear different (left & right). That is because when we ordered the two blankets, we got an "old style" and a "new style". The one with all the stitching is the "old style". The "new style" fits much better and looks much neater.
