It's been a while since I've been thinking about this so if I get the = specifics wrong that's my excuse. I'm keeping an eye out for #8 Unbrako = screws to replace the #6's used in the mechanism. I think they could be = incorporated with minor changes to the slot (filing) in the handle = barrels and that'd provide increased strength to a part that seems prone = to failure. Perhaps Lancair could source them- Justin?
