The actuator body does not have to be removed from the aircraft to be overhauled. It's easy enough to swab it clean once the piston has been removed. Unfortunately, this bright thought occurred to me after I had gone to the trouble of fully removing mine during the winter. Herein lies the difference between an engineer and a liberal arts puke.
