Although I have aligned my wheels per the manual and have had the shims cut to fit, my tires are not tracking correctly as evidenced by abnormal tire wear.

I am wondering if anyone on the list has used "squish plates" when aligning?  These are two, one- sq. ft. aluminum plates (1/4 " thick) with a greased piece of dense plastic between.  This supposedly allows the aircraft gear to settle and align properly.

Thoughts and comments appreciated.
