Dear subscribers,
During my rebuild process of my 4 P I reached the electrical
system now. Since most of it looks like a complete mess I decided to take most
of it out and redo it. I came across my trim system and decided to redo it.
I have a trim system for rudder, aileron and elevator from
the Ray Allen Company. I checked their web site and the components that I have
in my plane matches their recommendation for the 4P.
I sketched the wiring of what I found in my attachment.
What I know so far:
Reg-1 component: turns my 24V down to 12V
SPD-1 + MAC component: lets you adjust the voltage to change
the speed of the servo motors
Rel-1 component: is used when you use a 4 position switch
instead of a 2 position switch
I try to find a complete wiring diagram for the 4P. But I
only found wiring instructions for the single components. I sent my self made
diagram to the manufacturer of the components (just to confirm that what I have
is ok) but it seems they don’t have the time to look at it closer because
I get different answers. May be someone on the list has the time and knowledge to
evaluate what I have.
What I think it does is: I can adjust the travel speed of my
elevator and aileron with the two SPD-1 components
My rudder trim (including indicator) can not be adjusted
because it gets driven by the 12V coming out of the Reg-1 component
What I don’t get is: Why is there a
speed control (MAC component) in front of my needle elevator indicator (needle
style)?
I understand the wiring of the Rel-1 components and it
matches the manufacturer recommendation.
The manufacturer also recommends that I replace the Rel-1
against a Rel-2 which does the same but lasts longer.
Any help is appreciated but please keep in mind that you are
talking to an electrical cave man.
Thanks for your help
Ralf
