howdy grayhawk-
i always appreciate your insightful posts.
i looked for my plane under "ivpt" in the faa registry and it is not
there but is listed under "lancair propjet" as are others so i suspect
that there are more than 13 ivpt(propjets) registered. i wonder if
there are other model designations which would falsely give a lesser
number of lancairs in the fleet.

In 2006 I sent the LML counts of Lancairs as obtained from the FAA database:
_http://registry.faa.gov/aircraftinquiry/AcftRef_Inquiry.aspx_ (http://registry.faa.gov/aircraftinquiry/AcftRef_Inquiry.aspx) "Model" was searched using the text shown below. The number of planes registered may include those not yet flying. Today I did a similar
search to see the changes (Difference, negative means a decrease).
Nov 2006 Nov 2009 Difference Model Search Sub- Sub- Sub- Text Sub-Mdl Sub-Mdl Model Sub-Mdl Sub-Mdl Model Sub-Mdl Sub-Mdl Model Lancair 1009 1111 102 Lancair IV 292 310 18 Lancair IVP 223 217 -6 Lancair IVPT 16 13 -3 Lancair

Note the greatest increase over these 3 years was in the "Legacy" category. Note the decrease in certain IV categories. In any event, Lancairs generally increased by 10% while Legacy aircraft increased by 36% (at
a rate of 1 per month). But remember that 200-300 series Lancairs still
comprise 42% of the Lancair Fleet and 2-seaters are 56% of the fleet. Scott Krueger AKA Grayhawk
