Colyn,
I am still using the old strutt. After about 130 hrs it was starting to detect a lite occasional shimmy. I removed the strutt and disassembled it on the bench, inspected it (all o-rings, etc. looked good), so I cleaned it up and reassembled it with new Bel-Ray 30w fork oil and recharged it with nitrogen.
When removing the strut from the motor mount, I noticed that one of the C-clips had come off one of the bearing blocks. Upon checking that out, I noticed that there was a .035" gap between the mounting plates and motor mount. So, I made a .032 shim and reassembled the strutt.
So far, after about 20 hrs, not a hint of shimmy. Keep in mind that I'm running a Mazda 20B engine which doesn't have the same overhang outside the motor mount. There was speculation that this may attribute to motor mount cracking. Who knows.

Any takers to my survey? How many IV and ES drivers still have old struts that are working okay?
