I thought long and hard about asking someone else to do the
first flight of my IV-P. Made harder because it was a good friend. The “you
bet your life” question: Was my work good enough to get him back on the
ground in one piece? In the end, it came down to the simple fact that, in spite
of my exceptionally good training with Jeff Edwards in his IV-P, Bill Harrelson
was likely to recognize a problem, and deal with it while I was still
asking myself: I wonder if it’s supposed to work/sound/fly “like
that.” It all came out OK, as Bill and I are still friends, but I must
admit that the first flight was when I parked all my reservations and fears on my
chest, and on someone else’s cajones… it still gives me the shivers
when I think about it…
