Michael,
I used the tape that has been very successful in the Middle East to keep the rotor blades from eroding. It has worked very well and did not slow the airplane down. It was a little expensive but it has stopped rain erosion and I was experiancing what appeared to be static erosion and it stopped that too. It is 14 mils thick, made by 3M and comes in several widths. I ordered 3" wide tape. It has been on since 2004 and has only yellowed a little. 3" was too wide but it was easily cut 1/2 width which worked well.
I put it on all leading edge surfaces inclyding engine cooling inlets. My cost was $285 plus shipping and I have lots left for additional applications. I bought it at Brown Tape in IND. 317 842 8273 (866 276 9682) John Brown is very knowledgeable and
helpful.

Subject: [LML] Leading Edge Tape
I just had my leading edges repainted again after rain and probably
insect and some ice abrasion. I now slow to 170 KIAS for rain. Has anyone
used abrasion tape? Does it slow the plane down or have some down side? What
brands are recommended?
Thanks
