LML Gang,
I have just begun building my second 320/360. This kit
has the wingtip extensions included in the kit, giving an additional 4’
of span. My flight mission is primarily high altitude, long cross
countries, so the extensions would seem to be quite attractive. However,
there is very little data that I can find on the actual performance difference
I should expect from them. Have heard reports that they improve cruise
above 8,000’ or above 12,000’. Have also heard they will
reduce stall speed (logical) and damp the roll rate (also logical).
My current 320 gets pretty sluggish in climb by about 15,000’
in the summer (16-17,000’ density alt) if I am loaded anywhere near
gross. I would be very pleased if I could get comfortable climb and
cruise into the high teens with these tips. Also, I’m debating
whether or not it is worth the hassle to make them removable.
I’m hoping one or more of you out there might have
more hard data or could contact me off-list to discuss your plane with them.
Thanks!
Dan Olsen
