I use a "spreader" whenever the plane is in the hangar with the canopy up.  It is simply a padded 1 by 2 cut to spread the canopy out about 1/4".  Sits on top of the glare shield.  Seems to help.

I saw the same issue during construction.  I installed an aluminum tab that pushes the canopy apart just prior to engaging the longeron.  The tab is visible behind the canopy strut attach point in this photo
