The best thing about experimental airplanes is you can do it anyway you
want - and the worst thing is you have to live with what you install. If it
works for you, it's the best thing going, so I can't comment on your
suggested fuel system design.
As far as excessive pilot work load in the terminal phase, I just make sure
the header is serviced about 20 minutes prior to getting busy, then I son't
mess with it until I'm on the ground. (I usually run the transfer pump again
after I'm on the ground so I usually only have to add fuel to the wing
tanks - so I'm lazy).
What works for me may not work for anybody else, but I'm happy with my
system, as I'm sure you will be with yours. It's just a matter of
familiarization.
