I think that your rationale on the fuel boost pump use was right on.

Also, I remember that George B. from Ada recommended climbing WOT but I don't recall him mentioning leaning.  However, I believe that Walter A. in a later post mentioned leaning to 1275 EGT  for takeoff/climb?    Thought/Comments???
