The RAAF had F-86 Sabres there at the same time Bob would have been based before being a guest at the Hilton in Hanoi. I remember the period well 'cos the deputy flight commander, in order to ingratiate himself with our new boss, decided we junior officers would take over the lawn care of the married quarter assign to the new boss on the base. It was done on a roster basis, which turned out that the schedule always fell to the most junior of the juniors- namely me. The boss returned after his six month detachment, and I am still waiting for the boss and his missus to acknowledge my superlative efforts. Gee - it's 44 years - do you think they'll remember?
