Subject: [LML] Re: Feathering Prop
Art - not sure I parsed this correctly. Are
these all true?
- Lancair sells a Macauley governor with the
feathering prop
- That governor doesn't support an
unfeathering accumulator
- Macauley PN d-20777-3 does work with
that Hartzell prop and does support the unfeathering accumulator
- d-20777-3 is still available
as far as restart, I know Len Fox did a test on
at least one plane and found that you can restart/unfeather but it takes about
30 seconds.
I've done it on the ground with similar
results. It is really slow to unfeather.

Subject: [LML] Feathering Prop
to Jack Webb
Jack and anyone else interested in an
accumulator for
a Hartzell Feathering Prop. McCauley makes the
prop
governor for the feathering prop we buy from
Lancair.
How ever the prop governor that you buy from
Lancair
when you buy the feathering prop is not and can
not be
plumbed for an accumulator. The governor for
that will
work with the accumulator is PN
D-20777-3.
My primary
concern about the feathering prop is the
ability to do an air start safely in the event
of an engine out.
Based on my Interpretation of the comments from
the
McCauley rep that would not be a problem if
starter system
is in good shape. Would really be interested in
comments
on this last paragraph
Thanks and Regards
