I've been following this thread about the function and cost of the various manufactured cowl fasteners. I must be missing something as I am struggling to understand the inherent benefit of these over the lowly MS screw and nut plate. I agree that positive clamping force is needed to avoid fretting. This knocks out many popular mounting options already mentioned. Some form of locking feature is also a must. It seems the Tridair comes out on top in the discussion, but what are the benefits over the screw/nut plate combo? Fewer turns to fasten perhaps? Ratchet vs. friction? Does anyone have a photo of these units installed?
