I am trying to fit the fighter style canopy. I have no forward fuel tank so I have fabricated brackets to hold the hinge arms which in turn mount on a 3" x 1" angle which runs from the longerons to the nose gear tunnel. As per the builder's manual I have narrowed down the stiffening on the canopy sides to match the width of the longerons. When I place the canopy into position all is well and the fit up is great UNTIL............... I mount the two gas springs which counter balance the canopy. These two springs are so strong that they take the curvature of the canopy at the longeron level and straighten it out causing it to increase the overall length of the canopy and foul up my fit. It seems to me that the note in the manual telling you to remove the stiffening as it is not needed maybe is not needed itself! Has anyone out there in cyber build land had the same experience? If so any solutions or suggestions would be welcome. My wife says sell the thing as is and buy something that flies!!!
