The Air Force offered to give Marin County Hamilton Field complete and 
operating for one dollar if they would keep it in operation for 20 years.

Those turkeys in Marin said "WE don't want an airport to disturb our peace 
and quiet".

The runway is still there but the barracks and BOQ's are being converted to 
apartments and a housing tract is planned.

The end result is that they are now going to fill the bay and add another 
runway to SFO at a projected cost of 3 Billion dollars rather than having 
Hamilton as a reliever.

When dealing with politicians NEVER be surprised at terminal stupidity.
