Upon inspection, I found the 1/16 inch cable to be frayed, making it reluctant to release the step when the gear was lowered. Looking further, I found the 1/4" stainless guide tube to be worn through at the main bend, thus causing the fraying to occur. I wonder if others have had this type of failure and, if so, what did they do about it? Flying with it extended seems to slow me significantly ( 5 - 10 knots ). Any suggestions are welcome as I'm too old, or lazy, to climb in and out without some help.
