Cannot, for the life of me, understand why one would want to know anything
about the position of the gear in anything but the "UP" or "DOWN AND LOCKED"
positions. There comes a time when too much gadgetry is a real detriment.
What you will never know, if you don't see a LED in the right condition, is
whether the circuitry failed or the gear is really screwed up. Since there
is far less to go wrong with the simple micro-switches that indicate the
correct end positions, why sould anyone purposely add such complications?
A Lancair, or any airplane, is complex enough in itself. Adding complexity
for the sake of complexity is not justifiable. (IMHO).
