$385 for just the little position sensor is a terrible price! I never would have expected that. A potentiometer costs $2 and the rest is just a spring loaded pulley with a cable through it. I expected $50 EA for a nice weatherproof unit at the most. If I only needed one I might spend the money, but I could use 5 of them, 3 gear and 2 flaps. Well at least it gives us an idea of how to do it. It wouldn't be hard to make. I would perhaps improve on it and use a jacketed bicycle brake cable which I could route somewhere to keep the potentiometer out of the weather.
