I am in the process of counterbalancing all the control surfaces of my Lancair 360, and have several questions. The plane has the MkII tail. 1) Does the rudder have to be 100% counterbalanced? I ask specifically because the manual doesn't say that it does. The rudder was assembled and counterbalanced by someone else. It is already primed. I made some brackets attached to a 2x4 and have the rudder mounted to it. It seems as though it will require about 4 additional POUNDS to be 100% counterbalanced. It has the weights in the forward section and the 1/2 round piece mounted to the leading edge. I am quite sure that adding an additional half-round piece won't do it... Any thoughts? 2) What about counterbalancing the stick? I have to admit I haven't reread the manual about this, but without the elevator attached, the stick falls forward. Fast! I have the elevator bob weight attached. Should the stick rest in the neutral position without the elevator attached? 3) Lucky for me, someone already answered the question about where to get tungsten powder. How about a source for tungsten bar? Thanks for any help...
