I used the 10 degree wood wedges and just kept putting more in and pretty soon, POP, out came the plug. Guess I used enough wax:) Speaking of, once again you composite folks were right since the wax I used was carnuba wax but not the absolutely pure stuff (had some "additives") and the gel coat has spots in it where it "pooled" or rather didn't pool and flow evenly. Live and learn. I needed to sand the female mold anyway since my plug had some tiny scratches made by the Al forming process and I didn't want to try to sand them out. It's amazing how these transfer to the mold. All should be good with some bondo and glazing putty and then lots of primer and fine sanding :) Any advice on the type of plastic to use for vacuum bagging? Something flexible enough to stretch down into the bottom of the spinner with no seams would be nice though I suppose I could live with seems on the inside of the spinner. With all this composite work it looks like I'm going to have to build me a bagged wing and kevlar fuse speed-400 pylon racer (all the electric r/c guys will know what I'm talking about.) Oh, now that I'm into this I thought of a better way to make the plug (vs using an existing Al spinner) and that's with my CNC equipment. I can just cut up foam disks and laminate them together and then make a spindle that I can mount on my vertical router. Spin this puppy up and CNC cut the profile with the router. Should make a real slick plug with a very exact shape. If anybody wants to make a custom spinner let me know and we'll give it a try.
