A question
unanswered in my mind:
Does a
rudder extension and/or strake improve controllability in a stall situation
where the top of the tail is in disturbed air?
As others
have said, for normal operations you have plenty of rudder authority with the
piston. However, try doing a forward slip and see how much you can
get out of it.....not much. So there's not a lot of "extra" there
should you need it to overcome some assymetric unexpected problem on your
airframe.
