Not sure what you are saying regarding Cessna. They did build the mustang because there is one based at my airport. I dont think the Eclipse was a bad idea. I just think it is close to impossible to pull off what they were trying to do. They may have been cheap to buy but the operating costs would never be what they advertised and you could get something like a nice King Air 200 or CJ with better payload and range. Or now an Evolution :)

 The entire eclipse idea was over when Cessna built the Mustang.   I think you need to distinguish between "bad idea" and "failure to execute". Clearly Eclipse failed to execute. Was the ea500 a bad idea? ...so far Cessna hasn't built one either.
