I reread my post and realized that I was not clear. The small tail is already on the airplane. My wife is really freaked out about the "homebuilt" nature of the project and I'm trying track down every last detail to reassure her that the airplane will be safe before we finish it. I flew with Don Goetz in the red 320 and remember how hard he was working on short final. It sounds like I should finish the airplane with the small tail and move the aft C.G. forward 1.5 inches. My other issue is with the cowling that Lancair provided with the longer engine mount. Basically, I'm not happy with the quality and fit. Are there any builders who have fabricated molds and could provide a copy of their cowling or am I better off going to the effort to make a mold and cast new parts? Lastly, where can one obtain the larger trim springs and geared trim assembly? Thanks for the help.
