I would clean up the mechanisms with MEK or acetone. Also, the older dispensers had a ball
valve in the hardener that interacted with the hardener and turned it a very dark reddish
brown. There is a mixed conclusion as to its effect on the strength and properties of the
mix. The company sells a replacement so that is also an option. Some say that there are no
changes to the properties of the cured epoxy, others say it hasn't been tested sufficiently
to warrant such a conclusion. Jeffco allegedly has said it makes no difference, as did
Lancair (one or more of the tech support folks).

Hope this helps,

Hello, everyone.  I bought a used epoxy pump a few years ago and now I am ready to start using it.  I got new reservoirs for the epoxy and hardener and I have cleaned the outside with denatured alcohol.  Is there anything else I need to clean?  How can I ensure everything is clean to put new epoxy into it?  I appreciate any advice!
